Big Sky,

Big Group, Big Fun in Big Sky! This year the BSC took 90 people
to Big Sky, MT as part of the Blue Ridge Ski Council’s (BRSC’s)
Winter Carnival. Our group took 3 flights out of BWI Airport with
various connections, but eventually the entire group arrived in
Bozeman and the resort at Big Sky. The day we arrived most of the
group went to several spots at the resort to watch the Super Bowl
as well as explore the facility. Our first full day at Big Sky started
out with the best breakfast you have ever seen. The resort is famous
for its breakfast and now I know why, there was no breakfast item
you could not find there. This fabulous breakfast was included in
our package for each day we were at Big Sky. Our first day to ski
was perfect with clear skies, sun and no lift lines. That evening
we had our Welcome Party which was a Santa Fe Buffet which was delicious
and included unlimited beer and wine. Everyone had a great time
and most people stayed there and mixed and mingled until the very
end of the event. The next day all of the BRSC member clubs competed
in the NASTAR race at Moon Light Basin. Those who raced for club
had a fun time and many of the BSC participants won medals for their
speed on the race course. On Wednesday, our group spent another
sunny day skiing at Big Sky and later enjoyed an Après Ski
Party with munchies and local brews as part of the BRSC package.
Many people went out afterward to the many local restaurants for
dinner. On Thursday, the BSC spend the day at Moon Light Basin.
We had a nice dusting of fresh snow the night before which made
the day even better. Later that evening we had our own dinner party
for just our group. Beef and chicken satay, home made pizza, salad
and delicious desserts were all on the menu. On Friday, we went
back to Big Sky for more skiing. We concluded the night with the
BRSC’s Farewell Dinner and Dance. This event was definitely
the highlight of the week with great music to dance to as well as
5 star cuisine. I have never seen so much delicious food all in
one place. The BSC had our last day of skiing on Saturday. The group
met each day for lunch which gave everyone a chance to take a break
and share stories of their adventures on the slopes. Our group departed
the next day with clear roads and sunny skies back to Baltimore.
We did have 3 injuries on the trip which included 2 broken collar
bones and 1 broken leg. Overall the trip was a lot of fun and those
who went had a great time and made many new friends.
Respectively Submitted,
Christopher Pukalski, Leader
